A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after two separate crossbow attacks in London.

The man, 47, is being held at a police station in east London after being detained last night around 11pm.

A raid on his address following his arrest found a crossbow, knives and other weapons, police said.

It comes after man and a woman were injured with a crossbow in two separate but allegedly linked attacks in Shoreditch.

Mother-of-two Nazarine Cazley was harpooned in the back of the head near Arnold Circus, a residential square, on March 4.

A poster was taped up to try and catch the shooter

Another incident ten days later occurred 200ft away.

Nazarine was taken to hospital with the projectile still lodged in her skull.

Two days later, her husband taped up handwritten posters to walls nearby appealing for information.

‘She did not know what hit her thinking it was a stone or something,’ he wrote. ‘She felt a crossbow lodge in her head.

Luckily she lived. But it could have been you or your kids.’

Hackney and Tower Hamlets Detective Chief Superintendent James Conway said earlier in the investigation: ‘There are significant efforts to find whoever carried out these assaults, and we are committed to keeping the community updated over the coming days, as we know how worrying this is.

‘My team are progressing a number of lines of enquiry, including identifying witnesses and exploring both CCTV and forensic opportunities.

‘We are keen to hear from the local community. You may have seen something on the days when these offences occurred, or you might have seen or heard something in the local area that you think is suspicious and may be linked to these incidents.’
