Woman shocked to find neighbour’s missing snake in her bed in the middle of the night

We’ve all joked about sleeping with some snakes in our time, but for one Northamptonshire woman, the experience was quite literal.

Tasha Lane, 23, was fast asleep with her boyfriend Reece Parillon, 25, and their dog Harley when she felt something wriggling near her at roughly 4:15am on October 22.

At first, she thought it was the pooch until she realised it wasn’t fur she was feeling.

Tasha turned on her phone’s torch and peeked under the covers to see the corn snake’s eyes looking back at her.

She said: ‘I just leapt up and screamed. It was fully under the quilt. I shouted, “There’s a snake! There’s a snake!”.

‘I thought, “Oh my god it’s going to kill me.” Reece looked under the covers and then he leapt up too. I’ve never seen anyone jump so high.

‘It was terrifying. Snakes weren’t even on my fear list, but they’re right at the top now. It was just laying under the covers on Harley.

‘The dog had been on one of my feet and the snake on the other. You just don’t think you have to worry about snakes here.’

Reece’s mum came rushing into the room when she heard the screaming, and explained that the orange reptile belonged to a local, and had gone missing months ago.

She quickly went to let the snake’s grateful owner, Jade Forester, know that her pet had been found.

Tasha suspects the snake came got into their house through the attic hatch, but it’ll be hard to say for sure.

Jade, 37, said: ‘I don’t know how he managed to escape, but it had been nearly three months.

‘We ripped my house apart looking for him – we took all the skirting board off downstairs – and after about three weeks we gave up.

‘So it was a complete shock. My son was definitely happy we found him as he was devastated when we lost him.’

Even though Tasha got quite a fright, she’s happy the pet has been reunited with its family.

She said: ‘It’s funny now. I’m glad they’ve got it back. It belongs to their little boy.

‘They posted it was missing on a Facebook page and it had completely slipped my mind.’
