Tammy Abraham breaks incredible Serie A record as former Chelsea star shines for Mourinho

After scoring a brace against Empoli on Sunday, Roma striker Tammy Abraham is now the highest scoring English player in a single season in the three points per win era of the Serie A.

The striker only moved to the Stadio Olimpico side in the summer in a deal worth £36million but has flourished in Italy.

Abraham has scored 10 goals so far this season - more than any other English player has ever achieved in the competition - and if he continues in the same rich vein of form then he will continue to boost his record.

Since reuniting with former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, the England international has been instilled with confidence and is showing why so many Blues fans were disappointed to see the academy product leave the club before the start of the campaign.

However, if Abraham was not sold then Romelu Lukaku may not have been signed.

The move to the Serie A has seen the 24-year-old become a more regular inclusion in the England setup under Gareth Southgate and significantly boosts his chances of being included in the Three Lions squad for the World Cup at the end of the year.

Speaking to DAZN after the victory against Empoli, Abraham said: “They brought me here to help the team with goals and assists, luckily we scored a lot of goals tonight.

“I think our attitude was off in the second half. Unfortunately, this is something that can happen after you go into halftime with a 4-0 lead.

“They gave us problems in the second half, they’re a good team. The manager warned us that Empoli have the ability to come back from four goals.”

Jose Mourinho was keen to reunite with Tammy Abraham at Roma
