Mum, 28, says her 'life is over' after punching daughter's teacher in school row

A teacher who risks losing her care worker job after beating up a supply teacher at her daughter's school said the attack ruined her life.

West Midlands mum Chantae Mitchell, 28, told the Birmingham Mail her good character was destroyed after she attacked the Hall Green Primary school teacher on March 15.

Mitchell punched them and hit them repeatedly over the head with a mobile phone.

The teacher needed an ambulance and urgent medical care.

Chantae, a care worker who works with vulnerable children experiencing mental health issues, said her job is now at risk.

Tragically, she even tried to take her own life.

Chantae told the paper: “It feels as if my life is over.

"I’m sitting here trying to figure out what to do with my life.”

"It took me a bit of time to try to understand any of it. It got to the point where I tried to end it all."

She also warned other parents not to confront school staff.

Mitchell added: “Don’t do it because there are consequences."

Two months after the attack, Chantae was rushed to Russells Hall Hospital in Dudley after overdosing.

And on August 2 the mum-of-three admitted to charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm at Wolverhampton Crown Court.

She was handed a nine-month prison sentence suspended for 19 months.

Luckily Chantae didn't have to pay any costs - and, if she stays on the right side of the law, won't serve jail time.

But that doesn't mean she got away with the attack at Hall Green.

Mitchell is on gardening leave from her care job, with her bosses set to decide if she can carry on in the post.

Chantae explained: “I have been told my career path may have to change.

“What happened is not me. I am not someone who goes looking for trouble.

"I feel sorry for what I did because of the consequences of what I have to deal with. I lashed out as a mother. It was an explosion of anger, a lifetime of anger came out.

“I don’t know what made me stop. I knew it was not the way, I couldn’t believe it was happening.”
