A make-up artist recognised a victim of the Bucha massacre by her manicure amongst horrific scenes of death and destruction.

The hand in a heartbreaking picture has been identified as belonging to 52-year-old Iryna Filkina. Anastasiia Subacheva, a make-up artist from the nearby city of Gostomel, recognised the perfectly manicured fingers with red and white nail polish that had been photographed lying on the gravel.

Subacheva said she felt her heart break the moment she spotted the lifeless hand on the street after Russian forces launched a barbaric attack on the city.

She said: "When I saw it, I felt physically like my heart started to break."

Deputy mayor Maryna Beschastna said the town's women are cutting off their hair to be “less attractive” to the troops, ITV reported.

She said: “There was a case in one village, two sister were raped… girls of 15 and 16… children.
