Ex-Tottenham and Barcelona star Kevin-Prince Boateng's wife once blamed injury on "too much sex"

Ex-Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng once had his injuries blamed on "too much sex" by his then girlfriend and now wife Melissa Satta.

The Italian TV presenter and model made the claim during the 2011/12 season after Boateng had missed a number of matches for Italian side AC Milan.

By March, Boateng had already missed 20 matches due to muscular problems and muscle fatigue which cheeky Satta put down to the couple having sex up to "10 times a week".

Boateng's nomadic career has seen him play for no less than 14 clubs, with most of his appearances coming for Milan.

Speaking in January 2012, Satta explained: “The reason why he is always injured is because we have sex 7-10 times a week.

“I hate foreplay, I want to get straight to the point. My favourite position is on top so I can take control.”

Satta, who has modelled for Maxim magazine and Sports Illustrated in the past, began dating Boateng in 2011 and have one son together.

Seven-year-old Maddox Prince was born in 2014 and Boateng and Satta got married two years later in 2016.

The former Ghana international started his career at Hertha Berlin before joining Spurs in 2007, where he made 24 appearances in two years in north London.

He moved on to Portsmouth before playing for Milan across two spells either side of a stint with Schalke in Germany.

Since leaving Milan he has played for nine different clubs in Germany, Spain, Italy and Turkey.

This included a six-month loan move to Barcelona in 2019, where he played four times and picked up a La Liga winners medal.

He has also won Serie A and the German Cup with Eintracht Frankfurt during his career and the 34-year-old is now back at his first club, Hertha.
