Boy ,14, who was fatally stabbed in mass fight outside London train station is named Jermaine Cools



A 14-year-old boy who was stabbed to death outside a south London train station during a mass brawl has been named by police as Jermaine Cools.


The schoolboy, from Croydon, was knifed outside West Croydon rail station on Thursday night.


Police were called to the scene on London Road at 6.40pm to reports of a fight among a group of people.


No suspects or victims were found at the scene.


Officers were then called to a south London hospital at 7.10pm where the teenager had presented himself to medical staff with multiple stab wounds.


Despite the efforts of doctors, 14-year-old Jermaine Cools was in a 'life-threatening condition' and was pronounced dead in the hospital a short time later.


A post-mortem examination gave the Croydon boy's cause of death as multiple stab wounds.


It is the 27th teenage killing in the capital in 2021, equal to a previous peak in 2017.

Today, the Met have named the victim and released pictures of him in an appeal for information about his killers.


No arrests have yet been made and the boy's family, who are from Croydon have been told about his death.

Detective Chief Inspector Richard Vandenbergh from the Met's Specialist Crime unit, leading the investigation, called on any motorists with dashcam footage to get in touch with officers.


He said: 'While our investigation continues to make good progress I am still appealing to anyone who witnessed this fight in the vicinity of West Croydon station on Thursday evening to come forward.


'I am also keen to hear from any road users who may have captured events on dashcam - your footage could prove to be vital in piecing together what happened.

'Jermaine's family have been left devastated by his murder and we need to identify the person responsible for this.
