Record boss, 36, in 'drug feud' doorstep killing was shot in the back, his wife tells friend

A record company boss murdered on his doorstep on Christmas Eve was shot in the back, The Mail on Sunday can reveal.

Police believe the killing of Flamur Beqiri at his £1.7 million home could be part of a tit-for-tat drugs gang feud.

The 36-year-old was targeted as he returned to his townhouse in Battersea, South London, with his wife and young son just before 9pm.

The killer was lying in wait for the Swedish national, whose sister is The Real Housewives Of Cheshire star Misse Beqiri, the former wife of Manchester United goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard.

Alex Beqiri (Flamur) and wife Debora Krasniqi. The 36-year-old was targeted as he returned to his townhouse in Battersea, South London, with his wife and young son just before 9pm

Neighbours reported hearing five shots – four in quick succession then a fifth a few seconds later – that left Mr Beqiri in a pool of blood on his doorstep and his distraught wife Debora Krasniqi screaming for help.

She has since told friends that her husband was shot 'from behind'. He is said to have had one bullet wound in his lower abdomen and a 'lot of blood' around his neck.

A nurse living nearby tried to save his life before paramedics arrived. However, Mr Beqiri was pronounced dead at the scene. Bloodstains were still visible yesterday on the white paving stones outside the house, which was bought in Ms Krasniqi's name in 2017.

It is understood the assassin fled on foot and police have taken CCTV from local shops to try to identify the killer.

Neighbours have told of suspicious activity in the days before the attack, including a man wearing a high-vis jacket picking up litter and another of 'Eastern European appearance' loitering.

Scotland Yard officers are now focusing on Mr Beqiri's alleged connections to drug gangs in his hometown of Malmo in Sweden – he moved there from Kosovo as a child.

His wife has told friends her husband 'never told me much' about his business activities. Mr Beqiri ran a hip-hop record label called Skrilla in Malmo and a firm called Fantabolous Music.

He set up the label 20/20 Music Ltd in London last year but the company has yet to file any accounts.

Swedish police are understood to have briefed Scotland Yard that Mr Beqiri, of Albanian heritage, was suspected of being heavily involved in smuggling large quantities of cocaine and cannabis through Morocco and Spain to Sweden.

He is thought to have been affiliated with a gang in Malmo which is embroiled in a feud with rivals known as Los Suecos, meaning 'the Swedes', which has been linked to more than ten murders in Sweden and Spain.

Los Suecos's leader Amir Mekky, 22, escaped with a leg wound last year when three associates were killed outside a cafe in Malmo.

It has been reported in Sweden that Mr Beqiri received death threats in Malmo before he left for the UK about four years ago.

In a statement released through Scotland Yard, his family said: 'We thank everyone for their kind thoughts and condolences.
