The Queen and Duchess of Cambridge visited King's College London on Tuesday to officially open t

Queen Elizabeth II and Duchess of Cambridge stepped out for their first solo outing together in seven years, with the Queen and Kate visiting King's College London for an event on Tuesday.

Her Majesty, who is Patron of King's College London and Kate viewed a robotics demonstration and met students from the Entrepreneurship Institute.

It was the first time the Kate Middleton has accompanied the Queen on an engagement as a pair.

They have previously undertaken a select handful of joint events, but have always been joined by other members of the family in public.

The KCL is the 4th oldest university in England.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh visited the round reading room of the Maughan Library, King's College in 2002 and, in 2012, Her Majesty opened the College’s re-furbished Somerset House East Wing.

My view: The Queen and Kate looked beautiful, but their event was overshadowed by celeb duo and attention seeking Meghan and Harry, as their unannounced visit to pay their respects at the New Zealand Consulate following the terrorist attack in NZ crashed Kate and the Queen's outing? It's like Meghan and her PR team contacted over 50 cameramen to cover their unannounced event, it's so strange that something that was supposed to be a quiet family visit turned into a media circus, all about Meghan, how sad is that.?
