Former US President George HW Bush has died at the age of 94.

President Bush, a World War II naval pilot and Texas oil tycoon, was announced dead by a family spokesperson

He served two terms as vice president under President Reagan and served one term as 41st US president from 1989 to 1993.

Mr Bush was admitted to hospital In April with blood infection but had since been discharged.

President Bush died seven months after his wife, Barbara, died on April 17 at the age of 92.

“He was more than a great man; he was a good man,” Bush’s grandson George P. Bush wrote on Twitter.

“His courage was matched by his compassion; and his dedication to country was equaled only by his devotion to his family.”

Bush is survived by his five children, 17 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
