Hero waiter recalls moment he jumped onto tracks to save OAP, 91, shoved by Tube Pusher

A 24-year-old hero waiter has recalled the moment he jumped onto Tube tracks to save an OAP who had been shoved by a warped attacker.

Riyad El Hassani said “instinct” kicked in when he lept to the aid of ex-Eurotunnel boss Sir Robert Malpas at Marble Arch station, The Sun reported.

Paul Crossley, 46, was found guilty of attempted murder after trying push ex-Eurotunnel boss Sir Robert Malpas into the path of a train

Sir Robert, 91, had been pushed into the path of the train by Paul Crossley, 46, during a completely unprovoked attack in April.

Crossley was found guilty of attempted murder at the Old Bailey on Friday.

Recalling the moment, Riyad said: “As soon as I noticed the man on the tracks I knew I had to act fast as I could hear the train coming.

“I did not decide to jump onto the tracks. It was just instinct. There was no time to think about it.”

Riyad said Sir Robert’s face was “covered with blood” and it took the stricken pensioner well over a minute before he was able to regain his balance.

Student Riyad, who moved to Britain from France three years ago, said the pair had exchanged emails since the incident and intend to meet up.

The Old Bailey heard this week how Sir Robert was Crossley’s second target after trying to shove Tobias French onto the tracks at Tottenham Court Road.

Prosecutor Benjamin Aina told the court: "Mr French stumbled forward slightly but was able to remain standing.

"He started to turn to face his attacker and felt another push to his upper body pushing him towards the tracks again."

He was found guilty of two counts of attempted murder after a five-day trial at the Old Bailey

But Crossley escaped and boarded a Westbound Central Line train to Marble Arch.

Aina added: "The second member of the public was a 90-year-old man who was walking along the train platform at Marble Arch train station.

The OAP was sent tumbling head-first onto the tracks

"As he walked along the defendant pushed this man onto the train tracks. He suffered a fractured pelvis and nasty wound to his head which required 12 stitches."

In a police interview the following day he was asked whether there was any reason, Crossley whined: "I had no sleep."

Prosecutor Benjamin Aina said: "Mr French stumbled forward slightly but was able to remain standing.

"He started to turn to face his attacker and felt another push to his upper body pushing him towards the tracks again."

Sir Robert was left lying in the pit below the electrified track with blood flowing from his head and struggling to get up.

The board signalled one minute until the next train.

Sir Robert, a retired engineer knighted in the Queen's birthday honours, was rushed to hospital where he received treatment for the nasty gash to his head, bruising on his face and fractured pelvis.

My view: This is plain evil, the video is shocking and distressing to watch, such a lunatic.
