Trump orders FBI investigation into Kavanaugh

President Trump said Friday he will sign an order authorizing an FBI background check into Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, NY Post reported.
“I’ve ordered the FBI to conduct a supplemental investigation to update Judge Kavanaugh’s file. As the Senate has requested, this update must be limited in scope and completed in less than one week,” the president said in a statement.
The statement came after the Senate Judiciary Committee said it would ask Trump to open a supplemental background investigation of Kavanaugh over allegations of sexual assault, which he denies.
Kavanaugh also pledged cooperation in a statement released by the White House.
“Throughout this process, I’ve been interviewed by the FBI, I’ve done a number of ‘background’ calls directly with the Senate, and yesterday, I answered questions under oath about every topic the Senators and their counsel asked me. I’ve done everything they have requested and will continue to cooperate,” he said.

Democrats for days had been demanding an FBI investigation into the allegations from California college professor Christine Blasey Ford, who charged that Kavanaugh attacked her at a house party when they were both teenagers.

But Republicans had refused to seek one until Friday when GOP Sen. Jeff Flake of Arizona said a background investigation should be conducted before a final Senate vote on the nominee.
Debora Katz, a lawyer for Ford, issued this statement in response to the president agreeing to authorize an additional, but time-limited, background check into her sex-assault accusations against Kavanaugh:
“A thorough FBI investigation is critical to developing all the relevant facts. Dr. Christine Blasey Ford welcomes this step in the process, and appreciates the efforts of Sens. Flake, Murkowski, Manchin, and Collins — and all other senators who have supported an FBI investigation — to ensure it is completed before the Senate votes on Judge Kavanaugh’s nomination. No artificial limits as to time or scope should be imposed on this investigation.”

My view: Brett Kavanaugh couldn't even answer direct questions, when he was asked about his drinking habit in high school and college. He was yelling and shouting at Democrats Senators, he was belligerent. Kavanaugh is an arrogant interviewee very rude. Kavanaugh should withdraw his nomination, it's terrible for the Republicans and the country. I don't get why Trump is still supporting a polarising nominee just because he wants Kavanaugh to save him from Mueller's investigation. There's just no way a rape victim can forget the horrible thing that happened to them especially the face of someone that allegedly assaulted her and is in the same circle of friends. Christine Blasey Ford testimony was 100% credible, she's a woman in pain. Rape victims never move on in life, it affects their relationships.
