Mejia stormed off and went to his room, the document said, and later emerged with a sword, which he swung at the bride, cutting her, and then threatened to kill her, police said.
Witnesses told police Mejia tried to leave the hotel, but was stopped by witnesses, who were able to disarm him until police arrived, authorities said.
Mejia was charged with aggravated assault with bodily injury, making terroristic threats, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and harassment.
He has been released on bond and it was not clear whether he has retained an attorney.
