DEMI LOVATO BREAKS SILENCE WITH A LENGTHY STATEMENT SINCE NEAR-FATAL OVERDOSE SAYS 'I'LL KEE

Demi Lovato has broken her silence since her near-fatal overdose incident almost two weeks ago, saying she hasn't beaten her addiction ... and wants to focus on sobriety.

Demi shared an open letter on social media Sunday saying ... "I have always been transparent about my journey with addiction. What I've learned is that this illness is not something that disappears or fades with time. It is something I must continue to overcome and have not done yet."

She goes on to thank God for keeping her alive through the ordeal, her fans for their love and support, and the staff at Cedars-Sinai for working diligently to nurse her back to relative health.

Demi added, "I now need time to heal and focus on my sobriety and road to recovery. The love you have all shown me will never be forgotten and I look forward to the day where I can say I came out on the other side. I will keep fighting."

TMZ broke the story late last month when Demi was rushed to the hospital after suffering an overdose at her Hollywood Hills home. She was revived with Narcan, but did not disclose which drug she'd been using. She has since agreed to enter rehab.

My view: Maybe it would have helped if you hadn't tried to kill yourself. God gave you talent and a good life and you disrespect God and shove drugs down your throat or wherever and you say it's illness, it's not an illness, there are millions of people suffering from mental illness who are fighting to stay alive but because you have millions of dollars and yesmen and women pals, that can't tell you off when you're going off the rail with drugs, it's just sad how so many children are suffering in hospitals fighting to stay alive with their parents crying for help and you have this spoiled celeb self harming herself with freaking drugs because she can't handle fame, please if you don't have something important to do with your money apart from drugs, just give it to children starving in Africa, or better still if you can't handle fame why not retire and live in a quiet place with your family so they can take care of you instead of coming back and telling us how you checked yourself into rehab, enough is enough of the kid glove people treat you with. It's unbelievable how your fans show support for a woman who decided to take drugs because she was having fun with her friends, those are not friend they're hangers-on. I don't get why some celebs think they can do anything they like even taking drugs to get high and everyone will jump and say sorry.
