Cristiano Ronaldo to pay £17m but avoid jail over Spanish tax evasion as he soaks up sun with girlfr

Cristiano Ronaldo could pay almost £17m after settling a tax evasion case with Spanish tax authorities but is unlikely to serve a prison sentence, SKY News reported.

Ronaldo, who joined Juventus in a £105 million deal in July, will be fined £2.8m and sentenced to 24 months in prison.

The Juventus star could pay almost £17m after settling a tax evasion case with Spanish tax authorities but the prosecutor said on Friday, although under Spanish law a sentence of under two years for a first offence can be served on probation.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner is currently soaking up the sun with his girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez while on holiday.

Before the news of his tax evasion, Ronaldo took to Instagram to share a photo of him and his girlfriend posing outside their apartment and caption: 'Holidays with Love!'

My view: Cristiano Ronaldo is enjoying his life, the fine is drop in the ocean for him.
