TWO Chinese drug dealers were sentenced to death in front of hundreds of school kids.

The criminal pair were condemned on a sports ground n Haikou, China's Hainan Province - before being executed straight after, The Sun reported.

Hundreds of people watched the grim verdict, including school pupils in uniforms, according to local media.

The Government arranged the very public hearing on the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, on June 26.

Cai Liqun, 39, was found guilty of selling methamphetamine and clubbing drug, magu - a mixture of methamphetamine and caffeine.

He received the drugs via mail before selling them between September and November 2015.

Huang Zhengye, 36, was found guilty of selling and transporting methamphetamine.

It was organised by the local Qiongshan Court and the Haikou Intermediate People's Court.

A female judge told a crowd of 300: "'Now I announce, take Cai Liqun and Huang Zhenye to the execution ground and carry out the execution by shooting."

The courts also gave public trials to 17 other drug dealers.

According to eight of them were given death sentences or death sentences with reprieve.

Culled from The Sun

My view: It does not really work. If you look at reports on the UN website. Drug use in China is on the rise. The public display is just for show by the Chinese Government. I also don't believe that the death sentences had been carried out as according to reports the law was changed a few years ago, the Supreme Court has to approve any execution by a lower court anywhere in China.
