Melania Trump wears “I really don’t care, do u?” jacket on trip to migrant children
While boarding an Air Force plane on a surprise humanitarian visit to migrant children at the Texas-Mexico border on Thursday, Melania Trump wore an olive green Zara army jacket with the phrase “I really don’t care, do u?” scrawled on the back.
“Heartless," "insensitive and “unthinking” were some of the words hurled through the social media about the choice, both for the nature of the occasion and in a cultural moment where public outrage for Trump’s “zero tolerance” family separation policy is widespread.
“It’s a jacket,” her communications director, Stephanie Grisham, said in a statement to reporters. “There was no hidden message.”
The question is: Who was the intended audience?
