A man cut off a wheelchair-bound woman’s hand to steal a ring from her finger, a court heard. Stephen Brisbane allegedly launched the vicious attack on disabled Sandra McGowan on February 14 this year.
The High Court in Glasgow heard that the 33-year-old entered Miss McGowan’s Dundee home ‘uninvited’.
He is accused of assaulting the 62-year-old causing her to fall from her wheelchair, then ‘severed her right hand from her body with a knife’.
It was also claimed that he did ‘take away her right hand’ and ‘rob her of a ring’.
Brisbane, who allegedly did not call for medical help, also escaped the home with a mobile phone and door fob, it is claimed.
Court documents state that he attacked Miss McGowan causing severe injury, permanent disfigurement and impairment, and a danger to her life.
