'Meghan Markle should be Commonwealth leader NOT Charles' claims Acclaimed author

Meghan Markle, who has joined husband-to-be Prince Harry in London this week at a reception of the Commonwealth Youth Forum, has been backed to be the next Head of the Commonwealth by an acclaimed author, reported.

Today The Queen told Commonwealth leaders that gathered at Buckingham Palace for the opening of a major summit that she hopes they will choose the Prince of Wales to succeed her as Head of the Commonwealth.

She told the heads of state from across the globe: "It is my sincere wish that the Commonwealth will continue to offer stability and continuity to future generations, and will decide that one day the Prince of Wales should carry on the important work started by my father in 1949."

But acclaimed author, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, has said the she thinks 36-year-old Meghan Markle should be Head of the Commonwealth.

Speaking on Channel 4 News, host Jon Snow, asked the author what she made of reports that Prince Charles could replace The Queen as Head of the Commonwealth.

Ms Adichie, an award winning Nigerian writer, replied: “Actually, I think Meghan Markle should be Head of the Commonwealth.”

The presenter Snow then asked whether the author would ever have thought “the British Royal Family would marry into a mixed race family?”

Ms Adichie added: “Why not? And you know black people are gorgeous so, of course, a person who wants gorgeousness in their life would do well to look at that.

“I think there is also something very modern and forward looking about their love and there is something about it that I just find really interesting and that it has that progressive element to it.”

The Royal Couple, who are getting married next month, arrived in London on Wednesday for Prince Harry’s Commonwealth duties.

Prince Harry made his first speech as the newly appointed Commonwealth Youth Ambassador announcing that his future wife will work alongside him.

He said: “I’m so incredibly grateful that the woman I am about to marry, Meghan, will be joining me in this work, in which she too is highly excited to take part in.”

A statement on the Commonwealth Secretariat website states: "When the Queen dies or if she abdicates, her heir will not automatically become Head of the Commonwealth.

“It will be up to the Commonwealth heads of government to decide what they want to do about this symbolic role."

Downing Street said on Monday that a decision on whether the prince should succeed his mother as Commonwealth head was expected from the presidents and prime ministers on Friday, and reports have stated the mood is Charles will get their backing.

My view: Meghan Markle is already planning another set up to be head of Commonwealth, just as she meticulously set up her blind-date with Prince Harry and now she's doing the same thing then she'll pretend as if she didn't know about it, Meghan Markle is a new member of the Royal family, she shouldn't get that top position, Prince Charles should be appointed or Prince Andrew's elder daughter. I don't get how Meghan can be selected as Head of the Commonwealth when she has abandoned her own family and some of her friends as she moved up the ladder. Meghan is more interested in overshadowing the Royal family, pretending to be in love, she wants fame and she'll show her true self after the wedding.
