Mentally ill mum has used up her savings on Gambian toy boy

DEAR DEIDRE: MUM cashed in an ISA to visit a man from Gambia who she met online.

Now she says she loves him.

My mum has fallen for a younger man online who keeps feeding her lies

She is 67 and has mental health problems.

This man is half her age and feeds her sob stories.

She sends him money every month and has gone through her life savings.

My brother, myself and our wives take meals round to her as she is struggling to pay her bills.

But we can’t make her see sense.

All she talks about is when she can visit him again. We’re worried about her state of mind.

DEIDRE SAYS: There is no law against behaving recklessly but if your mother isn’t of sound mind, then you may be able to protect her.

Talk over what is happening with Saneline (, 0300 304 7000) who offer support to anyone affected by mental illness.

Brief your mum’s GP and hopefully you will be able to persuade her to make an appointment.

Culled from The Sun

My view: It's sad that some women are still falling for con-men who don't really care about them, maybe he has cast a spell over her.
