WOMAN BITTEN BY SPIDER AS SHE SLEPT FEARED SHE WOULD LOSE HER LEG AFTER THE SCARY ORDEAL (PHOTOS AND

A young lady feared she would lose her leg after being bitten by a spider as she slept.

According to The Sun Anna Brown, 22, was left with a gaping wound on her right leg and unable to walk for three months.

The bite created a gaping hole in Anna's leg

The shop assistant woke up with just a spot on her right leg which became swollen the next day.

It developed into a huge hole with a raging infection and doctors warned she could lose her leg completely.

Anna told The Sun Online: “I still can’t walk properly and it has been 12 weeks since it happened.

“I hadn’t thought anything of it but then the redness around it started to spread all the way down my leg.”

Anna Brown said she was unable to walk properly for 12 weeks

Anna said antibiotics did little to help the bite from the mystery spider.

Instead, an abscess began to develop under the bite, with a raging infection taking hold.

Anna added: "They had to operate on it to drain it, and the doctors had to go deeper than they thought, close to my bone.

"They said I was near enough close to losing my leg. It was scary."

The bite became infected and left Anna, from Hampshire, in agony

While she does not know what kind of spider caused the horrific injury, Anna said she suspected it could have been a woodlouse spider that bit her.

Left with four scars on her leg after the surgeries, she said she was still unable to walk properly and needed crutches to get around.

The young woman added: “I’ve been in and out of hospital.

“I need physio after the operation and if my leg keeps swelling up, I’ll need to go back to hospital.”

Woodlouse spiders generally live under rocks and logs but are also found in houses.

A Brit teen was left with a 50 pence-sized infected wound in September after being bitten by a spider.

Another mum was left hospitalised after being bitten by a garden spider.
