REAL MADRID 2-0 BARCELONA (AGG 5-1): MARCO ASENSIO SCORES STUNNING GOAL AND KARIM BENZEMA ON TARGET

Marco Asensio was delighted to have contributed two goals against Barca in the Supercopa de Espana

The 21-year-old star said Real Madrid were the better team and deserved to win the Supercopa de Espana as the Spanish sensation celebrate his two goals against Barcelona.

Asensio was star of the match as he was front and centre as Madrid sealed a 5-1 aggregate triumph with a comfortable 2-0 victory at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday.

Having scored from long range in the first leg, Asensio was the star player again with another amazing strike to give La Liga and Champions League titleholders Madrid a fourth-minute lead in the capital.

Cristiano Ronaldo watched from his private box, Gareth Bale was on the bench, and on the pitch – showing no signs of missing either of them – Real Madrid crushed a Barcelona side to win the Spanish Super Cup.

It appears Barcelona missed Neymar on the pitch as they felt the impact of his absense.

Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele’s prices can be increased a little further after this because Barcelona’s board have no choice but to strengthen before the window shuts.

Today they will present former Tottenham flop midfielder Paulinho, not quite the first post-Neymar signing their supporters had in mind.

Real Madrid won without their two most expensive players as Ronaldo began a five-game ban for pushing a referee and Bale was dropped to the bench to make way for 21-year-old Marco Asensio.

"My two goals in the Spanish Super Cup were great and I will look back on them fondly," the 21-year-old star said. "The fans show us incredible support and so naturally we want to reward them with titles.

"We were playing at home and had to really turn it on, and we created opportunities. We played the better football over the tie."
