'I WANTED OUT FOR AN ORDINARY LIFE' BUT STAYED FOR THE QUEEN SAYS PRINCE HARRY IN CANDID INT

Prince Harry, 32, has admitted that he once ‘wanted out’ of the Royal Family and considered turning his back on the privilege he was born into to live an ‘ordinary life’.

In a candid interview with journalist Angela Levin For Newsweek magazine, Prince Harry opens up about his troubled 20s and says how, after leaving the Army, he ‘didn’t want to grow up’ and struggled to find a meaningful role for himself.

The Prince told journalist Angela Levin – who revealed last week that Harry believes ‘no one in the Royal Family wants to be King or Queen’ – the Prince gave a remarkable insight into how he once felt directionless, and sought an escape from the pomp and pageantry surrounding him.

“I wasn’t a prince I was just Harry,” he said.

“It was the best escape I ever had.”

Prince Harry admitted that it took him some time to come to terms with what being in the monarchy means and sought counselling to help him figure out what he wanted.

“I am determined to have a relatively normal life and if I am lucky enough to have children they can have one too.

“We don’t just want to be a bunch of celebrities but instead use our role for good.

“We want to make sure the monarchy lasts and are passionate about what it stands for.”

He is now fifth in line to the throne behind William and Kate’s children.

Harry said: “The reason I am now fifth is because of my nephew and niece and I could never wish them away.

“They are the most amazing things ever.”
