ENGLAND 2-0 LITHUANIA: JERMAIN DEFOE SCORES FIRST INTERNATIONAL GOAL IN FOUR YEARS AS JAMIE VARDY SC

Jermain Defoe got England off to a flying start, calmly finishing after Raheem Sterling's impressive turn of pace and square ball.

The second came after the break, as Jamie Vardy knocked the ball home with almost his first touch since coming off the bench.

Jamie Vardy slotted home calmly from a brilliant Adam Lallana flick in the second half

Little Bradley Lowery lined up with his idol Jermain Defoe before the match

Lithuania nearly equalised when despite being a mile offside just before half-time, in the rarest of forays into England’s half Vykintas Slivka headed the ball over an onrushing Joe Hart – only for John Stones to hook it off the line.

Sterling had a brilliant chance to extend England’s lead just after half-time – but from Ryan Bertrand’s superb low cross, he got the ball stuck under his feet from yards out.

Adam Lallana impressed for England as the Three Lions secured a comfortable World Cup qualifying victory over Lithuania.

Lallana was excellent in midfield and further forward, lovely assist, rarely put a foot wrong.

The Liverpool winger was the star of the game in Gareth Southgate's first competitive match since he has been handing the reigns as England manager on a permanent basis.

It was a comfortable easy finish for Defoe, but he used his predatory talent to great effect

Wreaths were laid before the match to remember the people that died and to commemorate the Westminster terror attack.
