CARNAGE IN HORNCHURCH: EXPLOSION IN HORNCHURCH LEAVES FIVE PEOPLE INJURED AND 41 HOMES EVACUATED


TWO men have been arrested on suspicion of arson after a huge explosion damage a block of flats in Hornchurch and left five people in hospital.

An eyewitness said the front of the flats had been “blown out” across the road

Police confirmed two men were in custody and being questioned on suspicion of arson. The Met also confirmed they had been taken to hospital for treatment after five people were hurt in the fire.

Daily Mail reports said: An unnamed neighbour claimed the blaze was the result of 'gas canisters' catching alight in the 'factory'

More than 60 firefighters have battled a blaze in Hornchurch, east London, after explosion ripped through a block of flats

Five people were injured by the blast

Reportedly the explosion was so powerful it 'shook' other buildings in the area

It is reported that up to ten fire engines are at the scene alongside ambulances and it is still unknown how explosion occurred

Debris from the blast 'scattered' across the road after witnesses said the front of the building was 'blown out'

Police, fire and ambulance crews have raced to the scene of the blast at a ground floor property in Ardleigh Green Road
